To expose students to phenomenal leadership and a dynamic environment, where they can make life-enriching, indeed life-changing decisions about who they want to be and how they will respond to life.

NorthBay uniquely presents a life-changing adventure for middle school students, at that pivotal moment in their lives when they are forming opinions and making decisions about who they will be.

Serving over 300 students each week of the school year in a Monday – Friday overnight experience, The NorthBay site provides the learning laboratory, where students “get messy”, do real science in the field, collate, record and apply the data in our Science Center.

Learning centers, including Bay studies, Birds/Animals/Insects, Wetlands, Canopy studies, and Conservation highlight the educational menu. And students may prepare for their NorthBay week by interacting on northbayadventure.com before their arrival, and follow-up in the same way on their own web enabled database, continuing to monitor their own results as other students carry on the work.

Characterized by the exploration and exposure to environmental science in an unparalleled location, students spend Monday through Friday of one school week at NorthBay. Along with their teachers and volunteer hosts, the Region’s finest leaders and educators meet them for what will be one of the best weeks of their lives.

Each day evolves with small groups engaged in outdoor scientific discovery and classroom brainstorming with their instructors, relationship building with students from around the region, and high adventure challenge and self discovery. Kids will move quickly from Wetlands 101 taught by dynamic and qualified instructors, to the challenge of the ropes course 35 ft. in the air. They’ll swim or be taught to swim in the pool, discover soil layering and subterranean insect life in our underground observatory, learn sailing techniques, and discover rock climbing on our climbing wall. And all of it is designed to meet the highest standards of MSDE requirements for learning outcomes and performance indicators, leading to increased achievement benefits for schools and students alike!

Teachers who accompany the kids from their schools will have their own premier housing, and programs designed just for them. They will accompany their students throughout the day, and spend time with each other and special guests focused on enriching the life and work of the teacher. And as the week ends, teachers will feel closer to their students, inspired about their calling, and more fully equipped in their task.

NorthBay! It’s a week that will never be forgotten, because the learning, thrills, and adventure are non-stop, but more significantly, because it’s where kids embrace the powerful question of where their lives are going.
