The Northwest Service Academy – Mt. Adams Center is an AmeriCorps program that addresses significant environmental and educational needs in the Pacific Northwest. AmeriCorps members serve in places such as the Columbia River Gorge, Seattle, Bellingham, Central Washington and Eastern Oregon. The Center partners with approximately 40 agencies including local schools, conservation districts, land conservancies, the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Fish & Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service. Our Environmental Internship Program places members individually within these partnering agencies to address environmental, educational, and community concerns.
Our residential Field Team Program places members on teams that address environmental restoration projects in the pristine wilderness areas of California, Washington, and Oregon. These projects include reforestation, invasive species removal, watershed restoration, wildfire fuels reduction, trail maintenance and restoration, and environmental education. Team members often hike into projects and camp in a front-country or backcountry setting.
