Updated: March 26, 2002

Outdoor Pursuits (OP) is a student-funded organization designed to introduce students to the world of outdoor recreation in the Four Corners region and beyond. Whether you’re an expert or novice in the backcountry, you will find something to learn in the wide range of outdoor recreation and skill-building activities offered. Campus facilities for the OP program include an extensive equipment use program, a climbing wall, a ski and bike maintenance area, and an outdoor and adventure resource library. The student and professional staff members at OP form a friendly community who are willing to share expert tips, advice and are devoted to helping members plan individual adventures. Members can also join the Outdoor Pursuits professional staff on facilitated rock/ice climbing, rafting/kayaking, backcountry skiing/riding, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, mountaineering, peak climbing, and mountain biking trips. In addition, OP offers a variety of clinics including bike repair, avalanche safety, ski tuning and more. Finally, OP plays an integral role in the overall campus community by facilitating and providing support to a wide variety of academic coursework and programs in their outdoor and wilderness endeavors. Whether it’s backpacking the Grand Canyon, climbing the highest peak in North America or just enjoying the beauty to be found at our back door, Outdoor Pursuits is here to assist you in enjoying one of Fort Lewis College’s best assets – the diversity of outdoor recreational opportunities found nowhere else in the United States.
