Salish Sea Expeditions was founded in 1994 and is a marine science educational organization that introduces 5th-12th grade students to Puget Sound and marine science through a 2-5 day research project, which is conducted from the decks of a sailboat. Students are the key decision makers in every aspect of the program, from choosing a study project to developing a hypothesis, determining a sampling plan, and operating the boat. Salish Sea Expeditions provides students with practical, hands-on, real world experiences that integrate concepts learned in the classroom.
