San Cristobal Ranch Academy

Updated: September 27, 2005

The San Cristobal Ranch Academy is a transitional learning center, where students participate in classroom academics and field-based experiential education. The primary focus of these classes is to teach young men (18 and over) important life skills to further develop their minds, bodies, and spirits.

There are five areas of concentration at SCRA. These areas are Life Skills, Academic Education, Vocational Education, Equine Program, and Emotional/Personal Growth. We feel that through a transitional therapeutic learning approach to educational courses and the process of daily living, we can assist in alleviating issues of low self-esteem, anger, depression, lack of self-worth, substance abuse, and school failure. We encourage all students to participate in weekly Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings if needed.

Our program is divided into three, four-month phases that offer an individually-paced, progressive movement through important transitional phases of emotional growth. During these phases, students are offered opportunities that #%!&ulatively build on each other. By moving from guidance in basic life skills to employment, our students are given the chance to experience, with support, the trials and successes of growing up.
