Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL), Inc. is a non-profit center that serves persons with disabilities of all ages and seniors. We offer a multitude of program to educate the general public as well as to empower our program participants through a variety of programs, including an inclusive recreation program, Outdoor Recreation & Community Access (ORCA).
Incorporated in 1992, SAIL is a private nonprofit organization that provides consumer-directed independent living services to people with disabilities throughout Southeast Alaska. SAIL offers an array of nonresidential disability related services and maintains three offices for your convenience, in the communities of Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan.
Our mission is to empower Southeast Alaskans with disabilities by providing and promoting options to live as active, productive, and involved citizens in their community of choice.
We strongly believe that recreation is tied to self-esteem, independence, community-involvement and overall well-being to all people, including individuals with disabilities and seniors. As such, we provide and promote inclusive and adaptive recreation pursuits, including camping, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, biking, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, fishing, among others–including any other recreational pursuit an individual might want to pursue.
