Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, S.T.E.P.S., Inc. was founded in 1991 by a group of professionals in education, mental health, and organizational development. The founders all shared a strong interest in using outdoor activities to enhance and support the work they were doing in more traditional settings.
S.T.E.P.S. has taken a leading role in developing adventure challenge programs for agencies and organizations throughout southeastern Michigan and metropolitan Detroit. In addition to on-site programming and consulting, S.T.E.P.S. was instrumental in grwoing the Tamarack Outdoor Education Center and Adventure Challenge Education Course at the Regional Education Service Agency of Wayne County, Michigan. S.T.E.P.S. currently is working in partnership with the Joe Dumars’ Fieldhouse in Shelby Township and Detroit, Michigan to develop the Joe Dumars’ Team and Leadership Center, as well as, building additional venues in the area.
In conjunction with its challenge course activities, S.T.E.P.S. provides frequent training opportunities for teachers and other professionals who wish to incorporate the techniques of adventure challenge programming into their work. As a full service ropes course construction and consulting company, S.T.E.P.S. offers program course construction and development services, as well as, support and management services, including: branding services, web design, curriculum development, staff training, technical inspections, program review, and program management.
