Surprise Lake Camp, located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, gives campers the chance to learn the connection between the natural environment and Judaism. We are located on 690 acres of land, that is for us to explore with campers between the ages of 7-15. 3-night 4-day backpacking trips are available to older campers, which provides an ideal opportunity to explore the Appalatian Trail.
We provide training for our Teva staff (Teva, Hebrew for nature), which is one of the most well developed Jewish nature programs in North America.
If you are up for a challenge and are willing to learn, then becoming a Teva specialist is the right job for you! Surprise Lake is entering our 100th summer of providing children with lasting memories of fun, friendship and creative education.
Located 60 miles north of New York City, the Teva staff is able to provide campers the opportunity of a life time to learn about the outdoors, learn about themselves and learn how to be environmentally aware and conscious.
Positons are filling quickly, so please fill out an online application at www.surpriselake.org. Salaries range from $900-2500 depending on experience, and up to a $200 travel reimbursement. If you have backpacking/camping skills, that is an asset.
Help change a child’s life, while being able to learn from the land and children around you.
