Our staff come from all over the country to live onsite and work within a faith-
based community. Some of our staff will travel and lead our outdoor program at
other camp facilities throughout California. Our program hosts 5th and 6th
grade students from a variety of different schools, and we are in operation Monday-
Friday each week from September to June. The goal of our program is to help
students learn, grow, and experience the outdoors, and we do that by giving
students opportunities for hands-on learning in an outdoor setting. Our staff rotate
through the responsibilities of trail leading and cabin leading, which can include
student supervision overnight. They lead hikes, teach lessons, and also help
students develop their self-confidence through a variety of personal challenges such
as: archery, rock climbing, team building, night hikes, etc. Staff also enjoy leading
activities like: dance night, campfire skits, stories, games, and more. Applicants must
enjoy working with kids, working in the outdoors, and have a desire to grow in both
their faith and their profession. Positions are offered for both halves of the season
(Sep-Jan, and Feb-June).
When kids leave the city and technology to spend a few days in the mountains, it’s
an incredible experience. Our outdoor education staff make an impact becoming role
models, and helping kids make memories that last a lifetime. Thousand Pines
outdoor education program operates within a Christian camp and Conference
Center, which is a 250 acre site located near Lake Gregory in Crestline, CA. The site
is located between Los Angeles and San Diego.
