UCLA Recreation is committed to providing high quality recreational experiences that benefit the campus community. Reflecting the varied leisure and wellness needs of the University community, UCLA Recreation provides extensive access to a broad range of recreational activities and services. The Department offers programming in intramural sports, fitness & wellness, physical and cultural education, competitive and social club sports, outdoor recreation, and marina sports, aquatics, and youth camps. Programs encompass the competitive, passive, social, cultural, and instructional aspects of recreational activity. In addition, UCLA Recreation manages 14 of the University’s recreational and athletic facilities offering recreation, sport, and numerous multi-use options for student and university events.

Outdoor Adventures encompasses our outdoor trips program, Challenge Course, Rock Wall, Bike Center, Rental Center, and Outdoor Adventure Resource Center. We offer a wide range of activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, mountaineering, canoeing, and much more. Our primary goals are emphasizing safety, environmental awareness, minimum impact, personal exploration, group bonding, experiential education, positive interaction and leadership development. 

The University of California, Los Angeles was founded in 1919 as a public, coeducational research university. UCLA sits on 419 acres at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains, five miles from the Pacific Ocean. Mountains, beaches, lakes and deserts are all within a short drive.
