UnCruise Adventures offers unique, seasonal employment opportunities for Naturalist Guides seeking a summer full of adventure. Small expedition boats and upscale yachts (carrying 22-88 guests) introduce adventurers to places, encounters, and activities sure to leave a lasting impression in each person’s life. As part of the Expedition team, you will have the opportunity to share wild and remote Southeast Alaska with guests while hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, narrating small boat tours and giving interpretive presentations. The Expedition Leader manages all onboard programming and off-vessel activities while supervising a team of up to five Expedition Guides, who work as a cohesive team to inspire guests and help them appreciate the areas they visit.
The sailing season begins in early April/May through September/October. Work rotations are generally 6-8 weeks on and 2-3 weeks off. Everyone works varying shifts that add up to approximately 12 hours per day. All onboard positions are paid hourly plus gratuities. Additional benefits include room and board while onboard a vessel, pro deals on outdoor gear, and travel assistance. Expedition Leaders must have a minimum of two years of team management, plus guiding/naturalist interpretation experience; Expedition Guides must have one-year experience. A current passport, CPR/first aid and WFR are required for all Expedition team members. Most of the recruitment is done from December to March; however, applications are accepted year-round to fill unexpected holes. Additional winter work may be available for those with extensive experience in Baja or Hawaii.
