The University of Minnesota Duluth is a state supported public institution. Approximately 11,000 students are currently enrolled in a community of 85,000. Duluth, a truly unique city, is at the western end of Lake Superior, 150 miles north of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It stretches for nearly 25 miles along the 600-foot-high headlands of the lake and is a popular tourist attraction, busy international port, and the cultural, medical, and commercial center of the region. Located in Minnesota’s Arrowhead region the area offers unlimited opportunities for a variety of year round recreational activities such as hiking, golfing, canoeing, camping, skiing, skating, fishing, and sailing. The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation has 22 full time and 16 part-time faculty members.
