The ecology center here was developed in 2005 to create awareness and understanding of the natural environment around us through hands on education and research based projects. We also focus on the core values of the YMCA and keeping it fun at all times! With our passionate instructors, variety of programs, and diverse landscape we strive to be the best environmental education program North Carolina has to offer.

Our featured program is a 3 day, 2 night experience where 5th or 6th grade students participate in outdoor ecology classes, teambuilding/low ropes, a town council meeting, night hikes, and are challenged by our Dr. Seuss based characters to be stewards of the earth. We offer one day custom programs for groups of all ages too. You can hand pick classes to fit your school’s curriculum, explore through sensory hikes, research projects, teambuilding, low/high ropes, and more.
