YMCA Camp Harrison is located in Boomer, NC at the base of the beautiful Brushy Mountains. The camp is spread over 2000 acres of woods, vast green open spaces, and 140 acre private lake. The founders of Camp Harrison were intentional about where the camp would be built. Their mission was to provide a place for its guests to reconnect with the outdoors and get away from the headache of the fast paced city life. Nearly all year, families, groups, and many other guests spend their time here hiking our trail systems, learning about environmental education, and enjoying the activities we offer. During the summer months June-August, Camp Harrison is busy hosting campers for 1 to 2 week sessions at a time. Fall and Spring is the time we host school groups, church groups, private groups, special need camps, and musical groups (to name a few). During their stay, the groups have the opportunity to enjoy the activities that Camp Harrison offers. Several of the most popular activities that are chosen are our state of the art Aerial Adventure course and 11 lane auto belay climbing wall, numerous hiking trails, fishing, clay shooting, paintball, and target sports. Because of its age, Camp Harrison has comfortable lodging and facilities. 16 cabins and our Dining Hall loop around our pool at whats called ‘main camp’. At Camp Harrison you will also find several amphitheater sites for campfires and a chance to eat a smore! Our guests always depart through our yellow gates feeling rejuvenated and eager to come back.
