YMCA Camp Menogyn

Updated: November 22, 2002

Menogyn provides small-group, wilderness canoeing, backpacking and rockclimbing adventures of 8-49 days in length for teens. A dedicated wilderness tripping camp committed to creating a positive difference in youth by challenging them progressively, Menogyn has been operating on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness since 1922. Our remote location, not accessible by cars sees 100 trail groups each summer travel to wilderness areas all over North America including the BWCAW, Isle Royale, Yellowstone, Wind River Range WY, Ontario, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, the Yukon and Alaska. A small, committed staff of college aged and older Trail Counselors lead youth of all backgrounds on these adventures and are expected to be excellent role models and provide safe, fun and enriching trips, creating life-long memories for all. Campers are invited, over multiple years, based on guide recommendations, to longer, expedition-style trips that demand planning and true interaction. Menogyn also has winter dogsledding, snowshoeing and skiing programs and Family Camps that offer intimate and fun introductions to the Northern Minnesota wilderness.
