Camp Tawonga is located 10 miles west of Yosemite National Park. We strive to impact the lives of children and staff by building positive self esteem, creating a cooperative community, instilling an appreciation of nature and exploring spirituality and positive Jewish identity.
Tawonga has a strong wilderness adventure and education program. Every child at camp participates in backpacking and ropes course and works in the large organic garden. In addition to our residential camp, Tawonga offers ten multi-week teen outdoor adventure trips.
Wilderness leaders must be 21 years old, have a clean driving record, and significant professional or personal experience in backpacking. Professional or volunteer experience with children or teens is highly recommended. WFA minimum required, WFR preferred. Leaders must either hold or be able to pass a lifeguarding certification class.
