Camp Thunderbird is a multi-specialty camp with an extensive recreation program, we spend our days up north enjoying the great outdoors. We offer more than 35 activities from which our campers choose individually, on a daily basis. Every activity is available to our campers who range in age from 8 to 15 years old. Our pristine Lake Plantagenet enables us to swim, sail, canoe, fish, water-ski, boardsail, and kayak. On land we climb, hike, backpack, bike, and play sports such as tennis, softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. We offer pottery, arts & crafts, photography, drama, campcraft, riflery, archery, gymnastics, blacksmithing, and horseback riding. Our activities help build self-esteem and develop skills for later life. Our campers experience the fun, excitement and challenge of learning new skills, without feeling pressured. Wilderness tripping has been an integral part of the Thunderbird program since our inception in 1946. We believe that the backcountry experience helps campers to build self-confidence while developing an appreciation for the wilderness and the necessity of ongoing preservation efforts. Our goal is to educate campers on the “Leave No Trace” (LNT) practices while we provide them with a safe environment to experience the adventure, thrill and challenge of self-sufficiency in the wilderness.
