Camp Timberlane for Boys

Updated: January 6, 2003

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF CHILDREN! Camp Timberlane is an independent boys’ camp in the beautiful north woods of Wisconsin. Our campers come from all across the U.S. and some international cities. We have 160 kids per 4 week session, and 85 staff members. Our cabin groups usually consist of 10 boys and 3 counselors. Our philosophy and program are genuinely non-competitive, placing the importance of fun and friendship far above all else. We feature a wide range of water and land based activities, and a substantial wilderness trips program. Timberlane is a fun, caring, and supportive place to work, and we offer outstanding training in the field of counseling and child development.

If you have a passion for the outdoors and want to share it with children, contact us! Our Trip Leaders lead canoeing, backpacking, sea kayaking and rock climbing trips all over the Lake Superior region and Canada, including Isle Royale, Boundary Waters, Pictured Rocks, and more! Trips vary from 3 – 12 days in length. We take a team approach with our Trips Staff, with all 11 trip leaders sharing a voice in training and logistics. Training includes out-sourced certification courses as well as 16 days of in-house training in hard skills and soft skills preparing you to do outstanding work with our campers. With help from experts in the fields of outdoor leadership and child development, when the kids arrive you will be ready!

Benefits include a competitive salary, travel allowance, and free room & board. We also provide a highly subsidize a course for Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. This is a great opportunity to get invaluable training at a very low cost to you. In fact, if you return to us for a 2nd summer, we reimburse all costs for the WFR course, making the 3 year certification 100% free to you. Our certification requirements include WFR and Life-Guard Training from the American Red Cross, which we also reimburse you for. So, while it’s true we require substantial certification, we either provide or pay for that training, making it clear how important quality staff is to us!

Our dates for 2005: WFR – May 24th; Trip Leader Training – June 5th; Campers Arrive – June 20th; Campers Depart – August 12th; Trip Leaders Contracts Expire – August 13th. If you’d truly like the chance to reach children and share your love of the outdoors, this is a great opportunity for you.
