Eagle’s Nest Camp is a 79-year-old coed camp located in the lush mountains of Western North Carolina. Eagle’s Nest provides a strong, nurturing community where campers ages 6-17 are treated with respect, honor and compassion. Campers have the opportunity to participate in 1 – 3 week long sessions which emphasizes the wilderness, arts and community. Teens can participate in extended wilderness treks that include climbing trips to the Southwest, sea kayaking in Alaska, hiking on the Appalachian and Long Trails, and cultural trips to Ecuador, France, and Iceland. Our mission is experiential education for young people, promoting the natural world and the betterment of human character.
The Outdoor Academy (OA) is an academic semester school for 10th and select 11th graders. Arising from a long tradition of experiential education at Eagle’s Nest Camp, OA combines a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with an outdoor program, environmental education, regional studies, community building, and the arts. The Outdoor Academy enrolls up to 32 students during the fall and spring semesters.
