The Earlham College Outdoor Education Program is one of the oldest college outdoor programs of its kind in the country. Started in 1970, the program features expeditionary courses regionally and nationally including programs in Utah and Canada. The program also offers a certificate in Outdoor Education along with courses in rock climbing, backpacking, canoeing, sustainable agriculture, and outdoor leadership. Programs of particular note are August Wilderness– a three week wilderness orientation program for in-coming students, the Advanced Field Practicum– a three week expeditionary outdoor leadership course, and Miller Farm– a student managed campus farm.
