The Nicandri Nature Center is a New York Power Authority owned and funded nature center located in Robert Moses State Park in Massena, NY. The nature center focuses on local ecology and features indoor exhibits, outdoor education space, and 6 miles of trails. The mission of the Friends, who manage the center, is: Engage visitors of all ages to promote public awareness, appreciation, and respect for the environment through exploration, education, and outdoor recreation.
The center serves over 30,000 people annually with on and off site programming. Staff offer informal interpretation of the exhibits and area to all visitors. A regular slate of daily programs open to the public (the center is free of charge) are well regarded in the community. Several area schools book regular field trips, as do numerous area youth groups. The trails are popular and open to the community dawn to dusk daily with groomed ski and snowshoe trails in winter.
