eNRG Kayaking was founded by former USA Canoe/Kayak Team Member (and ACA instructor Trainer) Sam Drevo, and his college friend Justin Rae after graduating Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR 2000 and establishing the Paddling Club at Lewis and Clark College. In the first decade of business they focused on boutique whitewater kayak instruction, and mult-day raft supported kayak trips on the Deschutes, Owyhee and Rogue Rivers in Oregon. They also focused on instructor certification (ACA), and Swiftwater rescue education/certification (Rescue 3) in the NW and all over the US. Combining a love for adventure and rivers they orchestrated 27 international trips in 17 countries during the winter season from Asia / Africa / Central / South America, and Canada. Fast forward 15+ year later, and we have a full fledge rafting operation alongside the kayak school in one of the best places to paddle in NW Oregon. The flatwater paddling center is located on the Willamette River 10 miles south of Portland in Oregon City (the first city incorporated west of the Rocky Mountains). Our focus here is on flatwater kayak tours / instruction on the Willamette and fishing and scenic flat trips down the Clackamas River. Our historic paddling tours of the Willamette Falls Locks and downtown Oregon City are a hit, and we rent, sell, and trade boats out of hour shop in Oregon City. Our whitewater rafting center is based in Mill City Oregon- about 75 miles south & east of Oregon City (25 miles east of the state capital- Salem, 90 miles from Bend) at the foothills of Mt. Jefferson, Opal Creek Wilderness Area, and not far from Breitenbush hotsprings. The N. Santiam River canyon is a fantastic beginner- advanced whitewater destination with over 10 sections of class II-IV whitewater (down 3 different rivers) within 30 minutes. We successfully serve over 1000 kids through our camps every summer, facilitate thousands of first time experiences on the flat water below Willamette Falls (2nd largest waterfall in the US next to Niagara), and our whitewater rafting center is also emerging as a destination for many of our in bound multi-day trips. We also regularly serve disabled military veterans through our support of Team River Runner, adaptive kayaking with NW Adaptive sports, and our stewardship activities partner with We Love Clean Rivers, the Water Keeper Alliance, and local watershed non-profits. Our goal is to build a comprehensive river based adventure center in NW Oregon serving Oregonian’s and visitors for generations to come.
