Prospect (www.prospectnow.ca), is a private, non-profit, charitable organization in Alberta. Our employment and career development services help people acquire, prepare for and retain employment. Our community services provide opportunities for individuals to more fully participate in their communities. Individuals who access Prospect’s programs include unemployed and underemployed Albertans, persons with disabilities, adults with mental health concerns, multi-cultures, industry associations, employers, art and outdoor communities.
Prospect PDD Services supports adults with developmental disabilities in experiencing an enhanced quality of life through increased workforce inclusion and community participation. Our model is based on building the community’s capacity for inclusion and involves activities such as experiential learning, as well as collaboration and partnerships that take place in the community. Our community based supports focus on the Volunteer, Outdoor, and Arts communities. The volunteer services include both individual and small group based opportunities.
The Outdoor Pursuits aspects of our program believe that adventure provides a conduit for experiential learning and community integration. Prospect provides an environment where participants are challenged to build their employability skills through activities that require skills such as team-work, time management and individual resilience. Outdoor Pursuits also provides a blank canvass where different community members can engage in a common interest with Prospect participants. Our OP programs run weekly, with activities such as indoor-climbing, hiking, outdoor leadership, cross-country skiing and fitness.
