Sol Quest is a non-profit experiential education organization offering programs in adventure-based curriculum, retreats and environmental education. Our programs offer youth and adults experiences that build self-esteem through physically and mentally demanding tasks and promote responsibility and initiative through team-based challenges which ultimately lead to a strong sense of participants’ capabilities and direction for self-improvement. Using outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking and hiking as a catalyst for personal growth, Sol Quest provides students the opportunity to broaden their comfort zone by taking leadership roles, facing their fears and taking the chance of trusting their peers, and more importantly, themselves.
Offering wilderness experiences to all children, Sol Quest is especially committed to providing outdoor experiences to inner–city youth who might otherwise never have the opportunity. Our committed volunteers and staff work year-round through partnerships with selected elementary, middle, and high schools as well as agencies that serve youth in the San Diego area. The youth, ranging in age from 8 to 18, come from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Sol Quest provides the equipment, financial assistance, and trained leaders with wilderness, first aid, environmental education, and youth experience for the benefit of other non-profit agencies and schools.
We believe that when work and learning are fun, their is a natural peak in creativity, productivity and achievement. Our activities are designed to allow students to learn by doing and find the best within themselves by trying new things with the support of instructors and the community of their peers.
