SoundWaters, founded in 1989, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of Long Island Sound and its watershed through education. Annually SoundWaters offers shipboard and land-based programs to 15,000 children and adults. SoundWaters works in partnership with individuals, schools, communities and businesses to develop experiences that foster a sense of responsibilty and encourage actions that ensure the future of the Long Island Sound ecosystem.
The Floating Classroom Program is a multi-disciplinary environmental program designed for local schools, camps and community organizations. Educators live and teach aboard an 80 foot three-masted schooner that serves both children and adults in Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk Counties in NY and Faifield County in CT. SoundWaters sails from April 1 through November 15.
