We are a CHA certified Equestrian Center and an ACA accredited camp. With programs like shooting sports at our trap range, .22 range, two air-rifle ranges, and a newly designed archery range or adventure activities at our 10 element High-ropes course, 15 element Low-ropes course, and new climbing tower our course offerings are dynamic and filled with positive re-enforcement.
Outdoor Educational activities such as: dendrology, pond study, ornithology, living history, orienteering, night hikes, astronomy, entomology, Undergound Railroad, mammalogy, archaeology, Town Meeting, Native American study, equine science, night orienteering, cemetery study (at a cemetery that dates back to the 1740’s), and wilderness survival leave our clients looking forward to a fun, safe, educational experience.
New activities such as mountain boarding are being added to our offerings to keep up with the pace of what’s new and exciting for the young and old alike at camp.
The great success of this camp over the years is do, in no small part, to the awesome staff that make up the core of our programming. That is why we’re now looking for individuals that know that they have found a place that they can call home for up to 8 months of the year, South Mountain YMCA.
Located on over 500 acres of mountain terrain in Southeaster Pennsylvania, in Western Berks County, South Mountain YMCA is just 1 hr. from Philly, 3 hrs. from D.C., and only 2.5 hrs. from Manhattan Island in New York.
We have positions available for this fall and the spring through fall season of 2006 (8 months), as well as close to 110 summer staffing positions.
Applications are available on-line at our web-site, www.smymca.org, and we require a cover letter, resume, and at least three work-related references.
