The University of South Carolina is home to more than 200 years of history and tradition, rising from a single building in 1805, while today offering 14 degree-granting colleges and schools and more than 320 degree programs for the almost 29,400 enrolled. USC, located in the South Carolina capitol of Columbia, is only hours from the beach and mountains, while playing host to plenty of fun activities, right in town. The Office of Campus Recreation maintains two facilities on campus enclosing 400,000 square feet of space: The Solomon Blatt Physical Education Center and the newer Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center. Each facility is located adjacent to an outdoor field complex, offering a total of 8 multipurpose fields. Development is currently underway for additional outdoor programming space.
