Wilderness Medicine Training Center International

Updated: February 19, 2003

The Wilderness Medicine Training Center International was established in 1977 to provide the highest-quality training available in wilderness medicine and risk management. Our courses expertly meld decades of field experience and training with the latest research and technology. We give our graduates the tools they need to prevent and handle the emergencies, accidents and illnesses they will experience in the real world. Our courses are hands-on, intense, and fun. They are also small enough to guarantee ample personal attention.

WMTC specializes in teaching practical courses in wilderness medicine for the outdoor professional and the recreational public. We teach you how to think critically and act effectively in a wilderness environment. Certification is offered in WFA, WAFA, WFR, WEMT, and wilderness CPR. Choose between a standard course format where lecture, skill labs, and simulations are taught on location or a hybrid, distance-learning format where lecture and testing are done at home using our books and a dedicated website prior to attending an intense, practical session, with no formal lecture, that focuses on skill labs, simulations, and case study review. Medical supplies, packs, and manuals are available through our website.

WMTC also consults and teaches courses in outdoor program risk management, site management, and outdoor program design. Visit our website for details.
