Since 1904 Hayo-Went-Ha Camps has offered single gender summer camping for boys on Torch Lake, Michigan. In the early 1990’s Camp Arbutus Hayo-Went-Ha for girls was established on Arbutus Lake near Traverse City. In 1981 a co-ed Environmental Education program was established and the Fall-Winter-Spring Program came into being with year round adventure and educational opportunities for children and adults.

Learn our values and traditions, experience the fun and adventure, and create memories that last a lifetime. Both camps are located near Traverse City, Michigan.
Our summer camps offer challenging wilderness adventure programs for each age level. Hiking, canoeing, biking, kayaking and sailing take place at beautiful locations in Northern Michigan, Florida, Alaska and Canada. On-site activities include sailing, archery, crafts, canoeing, swimming, climbing towers, ropes course and drama as well as sports, campfires and skits. In addition, a fine horse riding program is offered at the Girls’ Camp and SCUBA is offered at the Boys’ Camp.
Our year-round programs unique opportunities for school children from across Michigan to experience the beauty of Northern Michigan. Experiential Environmental Education classes range form our high and low ropes course to aquatic and forest ecology. Students will have the chance to survive in the out of doors as well as making new, life long friends. Corporate teambuilding, conferences and community outreach are also important parts of the year round program at both Torch Lake and Arbutus Lake.
