Position Overview:
We’re seeking enthusiastic Naturalist Sea Kayak Tour Guides to lead single and multi-day sea kayaking adventures from our base in Friday Harbor. This role blends outdoor leadership, environmental interpretation, and customer service—perfect for those who love sharing their knowledge of marine wildlife and ecosystems while paddling some of the most beautiful waters in North America.

Key Responsibilities: Safely lead guided kayak tours in the San Juan Islands, ranging from half-day trips to multi-day expeditions.
Provide engaging natural history interpretation, including local marine mammals, seabirds, intertidal life, and regional ecology.
Ensure guest safety through proper equipment use, safety briefings, and risk management on the water.
Perform on-water rescues, towing, and emergency response as needed.
Assist with trip preparation and breakdown, including loading/unloading kayaks and gear.
Promote Leave No Trace ethics and environmental stewardship.
Maintain positive group dynamics and provide exceptional customer service to guests of varying skill levels.

Qualifications: Strong paddling skills in coastal conditions (ACA Level 2–3 equivalent or willingness to train).
Knowledge of Pacific Northwest marine ecology and wildlife (or ability to learn quickly).
Previous guiding, outdoor leadership, or teaching experience preferred.
First Aid & CPR (Wilderness First Aid or higher preferred).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physically capable of long paddling days and gear handling.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays during the summer season.
